5.30 Gangsta Index

Dave Crossman dispatched Gary Rolfe in round one, then parked Fred Davis in the semis to square off against Derek Beauregard for the 5.30 "Gangsta" Index final. Dave got the reaction time advantage, .052 to .110 and drove to a winning, 5.368 at 133.20 mph to lock up the win. Derek won a close round one battle over Joe Santoro then had the bye run in the semis to set the stage for the final round. Derek broke out of the 5.30 index in his attempt to close the reaction time gap, running a too-quick, 5.256 at 141.02 mph for the runner-up honors.

In the semis, Fred Davis gave up a .080 to .037 reaction time lead to Dave and broke out with a 5.290 at 133.46 mph to close out his day.

Box/No Box

Ed Ross celebrated his birthday on Sunday winning the Box/No Box final over ESTA Ace, Rick Vose. In order to set up the Box/No Box final, Ed won an extremely close Box final over Terry Miron. Terry drilled the tree with a perfect .000 reaction, but Ed was right on target as well with a .002 reaction. The winning numbers came at the finishline when Ed drove to a .009-over 5.999 at 114.22 mph to seal the win. Terry dialed in at a 4.58, but was only able to post a 4.605 at 149.99 mph and lost by a slim .014 margin. Chuck White lost a close battle to Terry in the Box semis.

In the No Box finals, Rick Vose squared off against Terry Lee and got the win when Terry fouled out with a -.016 foul start. Rick drove to a winning 6.722 at 102.08 mph on his 6.70 dial-in. In the No Box semis, Terry advanced to the final when Ron Bixby lit the red light, and Rick squared off against Mike Halsey in the other semifinal pairing and got the win, winning both ends of the track.

In the Box/No Box final both Ed and Rick launched with identical .049 reactions, but Ed's .021-over, 6.011 at 111.93 mph got the win light over Rick's 6.745 at 101.65 mph on his 6.70 dial-in to claim the top prize.
