Sleds and Juniors Take Center Stage in Two-Days of Racing 7272008 The 7th Annual Pro Sled Shootout presented by Trucks-R-Us dodged the weather demons plaguing the track the past two weeks and logged another successful event which saw a new Sled E.T. track record be set and the first Canadian Champion be crowned on Sunday. Glenn Hall piloted his Boondocker Turbo-powered, D&D Arctic Cat to a blistering 8.260 in Sunday's eliminations. Foxboro, Ontario, Canada is the home for the first-ever Canadian Pro Sled Shootout Champion when John Chatwood piloted his Wayne's World Polaris to the Trucks-R-Us Pro Sled Shootout win over Evan Haseley in the bracket final. Also on the ticket, our Jr. Dragster racers raced for the 2008 O'Reilly Jr. Dragster Championship titles with Christy Bear and Joshua Snyder taking the "A" and "B" wins respectively. TITLES In the Jr. Dragster A class it was Christy Bear scoring the win defeating Robbie LaPointe in the final round. Both competitors were dialed in at 7.90, Christy gained nearly an 8 hundredths of a second advantage at the tree, .629 to .706 and she wheeled her Jr. dragster to the win with a 7.926 at 79.49 mph run while Robbie broke out with a 7.879 at 81.41 mph runner-up effort. Matt Bunal lost to Robbie in the semis. Joshua Snyder stayed hot as he won the big one today defeating Kimberly Klein in the Jr. Dragster B final. Josh held the r.t. advantage .657 to .737 and ran an 8.969 at 73.93 mph on his 8.96 dial, while Kim settled for the runner-up spot with a 9.015 at 75.13 mph run on her 9.00 dial-in. Kyle Reynolds was the semifinalist. We also ran a best package race on Saturday for the Jr.s and that was won by Kyle Reynolds. Kyle defeated Shaquille Scott in the final with a .577 initiated 9.092 at 71.09 mph run on his 9.04 dial while Shaquille had a .623 light and ran 8.020 at 80.38 mph run on his 7.97 dial. GLENN HALL SETS TRACK SLED E.T. RECORD ON WAY TO 2 SHOOTOUT WINS In the Pro Sled Shootout which had nearly 80 entries it was John Chatwood from Foxboro, Ontario Canada taking the win on his 97 Polaris by defeating Evan Haseley from Niagara Falls, NY who was on his 00 Ski-doo. Evan bulbed with a .492 red and ran a 9.315 at 139.74 mph on his 9.25 dial. John took home the three thousand dollar first prize with his .557 initiated, 9.932 at 128.59 mph run on his 9.87 dial. In Trophy Sled Jim Marstan took home the 5ft. tall trophy riding his Arctic Cat to the win defeating Liz Bronk who fouled riding her 97 Polaris. Jim ran a 10.56 at 110.27 mph on his 10.60 dial, while Liz ran an 11.827 at 102.48 mph on her 11.68 dial. There were also four Quick 16 races for the sleds and here are the final round results. In the Power Adder Twins it was Glenn Hall on his Arctic Cat taking the win over Adam Fricke who experienced mechanical problems. Glenn sped to an 8.370 at 158.43 mph to Adams 10.44 at 121.99 mph pass. Super Pro racing saw Carl Drake Jr. drive his Chevy powered dragster to a very narrow win over James Smith Jr. who also was driving a Chevy powered dragster. Both drivers drilled the tree with Carl holding the slimmest margin .515 to .517. Carl ran 7.703 at 169.20 mph on his 7.68 dial for the win, while James ran 7.755 at 173.17 mph on his 7.73 dial to grab the runner-up spot. The margin of victory was a scant .005. Jessica Caprara was the semifinalist in her Camaro. In Pro, Dave Tingley who up until this year has not been racing for a few seasons, stopped one of the hardest drivers to get around in the Pro class today, Mike LaRose. Dave drove his 68 Chevelle to the win with a .533 initiated, 11.020 at 119.73 mph run on his 11.00 dial-in. Mike had a .579 light and ran under his 10.39 dial with a 10.378 at 129.31 mph runner-up effort. Anthony Zegarelli was the semifinalist. Pro Bike saw Pete Sereno ride his 01 Suzuki drag bike to the win stopping Keith Miller who was on his 92 Suzuki. Both riders were good at the tree. .540 to .532 in Keiths favor. But Keith could not run the number and lost with a 10.413 at 110.01 mph run on his 10.25 dial-in. Pete scored the win with an 8.635 at 139.35 mph run on his 8.59 dial-in. Skip Tamburino was the semifinalist. In Modified, Steve Searles drove his 86 Mustang to the win stopping Westley Cayea who was in his Chevy powered 74 Hornet. Westley was using the strategy of dialing in what ever his opponent was and it worked until the final. Westley held the r.t. advantage, .521 to .581, but Steve ran his own race in his lane and won with a 13.944 at 86.23 mph on his 13.93 dial. Wesley ran a 14.13 at 92.72 mph on his 13.93 dial. Anthony Platania was the semifinalist. We also ran the F.X. Caprara Trailer Sales Invitational race on Saturday and this was won by Billy Caprara himself. Billy stopped Steve Doss in the final with a 8.254 at 161.22 mph run on his 8.22 dial, while Steve had a .523 light and ran under his 10.28 dial with a 10.274 at 130.54 mph effort.
