Wuest Deadly As He Doubles On the Day 5112008 Today we were able to get our 2008 points season underway and the racers put on a great show for all in attendance. Here are the results. In Super Pro, Joey LaRose put his Competition Wedge Racing powered, 67 Chevelle into the winners circle as he defeated defending points champ Vince Musolino who was driving his 05 Miller Dragster. Joey was off and running in the final with a .587 reaction time and won it with his 9.804 at 131.95 mph run on his 9.76 dial. Vince leaned on the tree too hard and went red with a .489 bulb and shut off, he was dialed in at 7.51. Ken Taylor was the semifinalist in his dragster. So far this season the Pro class has been dominated by the LaRose gang and their Competition Wedge prepared Mopar entries as they have won all three events contested. This weeks final was the same as the last race we had on April 27th, as Mike LaRose who was driving his 68 GTX was pitted once again against Rich Duffer, who was in his 65 Chevelle. Both drivers had good lights with Mike holding the slight edge, .526 to .529, and he was able to win it when he ran a 10.514 at 127.45 mph run on his 10.49 dial-in. Rich had to settle for the runner-up spot as he barely ran under his 12.80 dial with a 12.795 at 102.98 mph pass. Jim Cieri was the semifinalist in his 72 Chevelle. In Pro Bike, David Ashby let one slip away today when he broke out in the final round on his 93 Kawasaki racing against Jose Cortes on his 99 Kawasaki. David had a sizeable advantage .528 to .677, but ran under his 13.59 dial with a 13.578 at 92.39 mph run while Jose stole the win with a 10.508 at 113.65 mph run on his 10.43 dial-in. Anthony McKeen on his Performance Harley Davidson backed 06 Destroyer and Jeff Strickler on his 03 Suzuki were the semifinalists. Kevin Wuest scored the Pro Sled win on his 97 Polaris when he defeated a red lighting Chad Wilcox who was on his 02 Arctic Cat. Kevin had a .619 light and ran an 11.958 at 105.35 mph on his 11.94 dial for the win. Chad went red with a .474 bulb and ran a 10.384 at 121.33 mph run on his 10.31 dial for the runner-up spot. Herb Bingel and Dennis Boston Jr., both on Ski-doos were the semifinalists. Street Money was won by Ryan Beckwith in his 87 Pontiac when he defeated multi-winner Jason Richardson who was driving his 87 Monte Carlo. Ryan had a great .514 light and ran a 14.932 at 93.13 mph run on his 14.89 dial-in to stop Jason who had a decent .583 r.t. and ran a 12.923 at 102.99 mph run on his 12.87 dial-in. Tom Samsel and Anthony Zangari were the semifinalists. While Rich Duffer was not able to win in Pro, he did win the Modified class today when he stopped Eddie Reilly in the final round. Rich drove his 65 Chevelle past Eddies 85 Ranger with a .506 to .530 r.t. advantage and he ran a 12.787 at 102.98 mph on his 12.75 dial, while Eddie runner-upped with a 10.688 at 120.37 mph run on his 10.67 dial-in. Myles Higby and Larry Forjone were the semifinalists. Dick Aversa drove his 07 Trailblazer SS to the Street Trophy win when he defeated Diane Blaylock who was driving her 00 Monte Carlo. Dick had a .602 to .809 r.t. advantage and won it with a 14.041 at 97.61 mph run on his 14.01 dial, while Dian ran well under her 16.10 dial with a 15.901 at 85.43 mph runner-up effort. Sid Cuff was the semifinalist. Bike/Sled Combo was won by Kevin Wuest who drove his 97 Polaris to his second class win of the day. In the final he stopped Pro Bike runner-up David Ashby on his 93 Kawasaki. Kevin had a .507 light and ran a 12.039 at 97.13 mph run on his 11.92 dial, while David ran a 13.718 at 92.96 mph run on his 13.58 dial-in. Herb Bingel was the semifinalist. Robbie LaPointe won for the second straight week in Jr. Dragster A as he drove his 04 Jr. hot rod to the win over Shaquille Scott. Robbie ran right on his 7.93 dial with a 7.936 at 82.10 mph run coupled with his .529 light, while Shaq was right there with a .527 light and he runner-upped with an 8.067 at 82.71 mph run. Taylor Duell and Hunter Woodcock were the semifinalists. Defending Jr. B class champ Jake Lipke drove to his first win of the year when he stopped Kim Klein in the final round. Jake had a .669 light and ran a 9.450 at 67.27 mph on his 9.44 dial, while Kim ran under her 9.25 dial with a 9.225 at 73.39 mph runner-up effort. Joshua Snyder was the semifinalist this weekend.
