Summit E.T. Racing Series - August 19

819main

August 19 - Sunday's event included the rescheduled Super Pro Showdown and the ever-popular, Adam's 10.50 Index race. In both instances it was Bob Belvick finishing at the top of both events for a very profitable day at the strip. Here's a brief recap of the day's winner until Pete's recap gets posted

Super Pro Showdown

In the Super Pro Showdown once again it was Bob Belvick taking the win in the money round and collecting another $1,000 for his efforts. Bob who was in his Chevy powered dragster faced off against James Smith Jr. in his Chevy powered dragster. James had a decent .525 light, but Bob laid a .5009 on him and won with a 7.845 at 171.18 mph run on his 7.82 dial while James ran under his 7.66 dial with a 7.648 at 175.21 mph to take the well deserved runner up spot. Tana Caprara and Mark Talmdage were the semifinalists.

Dan Cerio Memorial Shootout - August 12

Dan Cerio Memorial Shootout

Boston Comes Out of Hiatus to Score Shootout Win

August 12 - Sunday's event was a race to honor our friend and fellow racer Dan Cerio Jr. who was tragically taken away from us in a racing accident earlier this year. Danny was an accomplished racer who achieved success in both the motorcycle and sled classes here at ESTA and elsewhere. The race, organized by Freddie Jacobs, included Street Bikes and asphalt sled racers all vying for the $2,000 first place prize money and numerous special awards donated by various sponsors. We also ran our regular E.T. Series classes, but the event was a non-points weekend.

Dennis Boston has taken a hiatus from racing recently, but made his return to the ESTA quarter a mighty profitable one as he defeated Chrissy Klein in the final round. Dennis gave up .022 on the tree to Chrissy, .584 to .562, but ran a solid run of 6.141 at 99.75 mph on his 6.10 dial to drive around Chrissy for the big win. Chrissy fell off her 6.19 dial-in when she ran a 6.31 at 105.86 mph pass and settled for the runner-up finish. The last two remaining bikes in the field got knocked out in the semifinals when event organizer Freddie Jacobs and Slaven Peric piloted their rides to the semis in the 48 entry field. It was a great race and we're sure that Danny was smiling down on us!
