Summit E.T. Racing Series - May 20

Eric Sadowski Wins Pro

Theodore Lewis Denies Ken Miller the Modified 3-Peat

May 20 - What a great day for drag racing on Sunday, May 20! Seven new winners graced the win column for the 2012 season as both Todd Minerd and Chrissy Klein each scored wins in the non-point season opener. After a horrible 2011 race season, 2012 has got off to a great start with 3-straight Summit Racing E.T. Racing Series events!

Super Pro
Carl Drake Jr.
driving his Chevy powered dragster put together a string of good reaction times, which led him to the Super Pro winner’s circle today. In the final round he had a .518 r.t. and ran a 7.563 at 171.01 mph on his 7.51 dial in to deny Scott Popple his chance for the win in his Chevy powered dragster. Scott settled for the runner up spot with a .574 initiated, 7.904 at 168.56 mph run on his 7.89 dial. Heather Scheirer was the semifinalist in yet another Chevy powered dragster.

Pro
Eric Sadowski
drove his Competition Wedge powered ’70 Dodge Challenger to the Pro win when he stopped Myles Higby who was driving his ’69 Dodge Dart in the all Mopar final round. Eric held a .571 to .591 starting line advantage and ran right on his 11.02 dial with an 11.025 at 118.68 mph winning effort. Myles ran a 10.135 at 133.17 mph on his 10.09 dial in his runner up effort. Fausto Rioscolon made it an all Mopar party with his semifinal round finish in his ’70 Dodge.

Summit E.T. Racing Series - May 13

 Ken Miller May 13 Modified

May 13 - Flooding at end of track forced us to run 1/8th mile on Sunday, but the racing was excellent for our second Summit E.T. Racing Series event. Racing shared the day with Mother's Day and some area college graduations, but the turnout was strong. Pete's event recap will follow shortly. Here's a quick recap of Sunday's class winners.

Super Pro
Tom Samsel defeated a red-lighting Jack Vault in their Super Pro final round. Tom killed the tree with a .503 light and ran .002 under his 5.98 dial-in at 112.55 mph, but it didn't hurt him as Jack's .493 red light sealed the win. Jack's foul start negated an otherwise outstanding pass. Jack ran a dial-matching 4.711 at 147.47 mph in his runner-up effort. Mike LaRose ran his '69 Plymouth "Hustle Stuff" to the lone semifinal finish.

Pro
Steve Doss
also scored a red-light win in Pro when Frank LoGalbo lit the red eye in their heads-up final round match. Both racers dialed in at 6.45, but Frank was .008 too quick on the tree and handed to win over to Steve. Handed over may not be totally accurate as the "Stinger" cut a strong .537 light and a dial-matching 6.452 at 109.58 mph run and would have been tough to beat. Frank ran a 6.467 at 106.13 mph pass in his runner-up effort. Al Meier and Pro "Rookie" Justin Hardman were the semifinalists.
