Summit E.T. Racing Series - October 16

Jamie Stanton Tops 16 Car No Time Shooutout Field

Jamie Stanton - No-Time Shootout

October 16, 2016 -  Despite a short rain shower in the morning delaying the racing action on Sunday, we were able to get most of the program in that featured the Tru Numbers Dyno sponsored No-Time Shootout presented by Venomous Motor Sports. It was also the final Summit Racing E.T. Series points race of the 2016 season. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

No-Time Final

Tru Numbers Dyno No-Time Shootout
This is the second year now that we have hosted the 1/8 mile Buffalo vs. Syracuse No-Time Shootout which for this year was sponsored by Tru Numbers Dyno and presented by Venomous Motor Sports. These cars are wicked fast and while I'll won't publish any specific times for any of the guys, we saw 1/8 mile times in the low, 4-second range with speeds over 150 mph which on a 10.5 inch drag radial tire is impressive to say the least.
In the end it was Jamie Stanton in his '02 Camaro running for the Syracuse squad up against Ed McGuinn in his '80 Firebird representing the Buffalo team. After some impressive burnouts and the nitrous purging both cars staged up and at the green it was Jamie holding an .077 to .112 starting line advantage. Jamie ripped off a great run to make it two years straight for the Syracuse team. Ed got off to a decent start, but rattled the tires and lost traction settling for the runner-up finish. Keith Stevold in his '68 Camaro lost in the semis to Jamie and last year's winner, John Bova couldn't make the call for the semis due to a wounded engine. Thanks to all the teams for coming out and putting on a truly fantastic show.

Super Pro
Super Pro action saw Jack Reome score another win in his Chevy powered dragster defeating Tom Doig in his '69 Plymouth who lit the red light. Jack had a .039 light and ran under his 4.85 dial with a 4.848 at 140.19 mph. Tom just missed going green with his -.002 bulb and he settled for the runner-up spot with a 5.554 at 123.01 mph run on his 5.55 prediction. Gene Stankivitz II and Gene Stankivitz III were the semifinalists.

Rich Golley - Pro Winner

The two Pro final round drivers put together Super Pro type packages with Rich Golley in '70 Nova defeating Mark Dobie in his '68 Nova. Rich had a great .002 reaction time and ran right on his 7.92 dial in with a 7.922 at 85.10 mph for the win. Mark was right there with his .012 light, but had to settle for the runner-up spot with his 6.342 at 106.13 mph run on his 6.33 dial. Myles Higby and Don Austin were the semifinalists.

Pro MX
Pro MX action saw Ron Dean declared the winner on his Ski-Doo. We were not able to complete the final round due to rain. The runner-up was Ryan Orizino who broke out in the semis against John Kufhta, but was declared the winner due to the fact that John had the misfortune of crossing the center line and crashing his sled. Fortunately he was not injured in the mishap. Ryan's sled was broken so that's how we determined that Ron was the winner.

Howard Roberts - Street Money Winner

Street Money
Street Money saw Howard Roberts in his '84 Firebird cap off a decent season with another win stopping Rod Skinner who was driving his '83 Malibu Wagon. Both drivers missed the tree, but Howard was better with his .169 light and he ran a 6.979 at 84.93mph on his 6.81 dial for the win. Rod was .271 at the tree and could only muster a 7.491 at 85.17 mph on his 7.22 dial-in. Steven Seelman and Jaret Wahl were the semifinalists.

Matt Consiglio - Modified Winner

Matt Consiglio in his '73 Vega defeated Mike Thomas in his '67 Camaro for the Modified win. Matt had a .011 light and ran a 6.621 at 96.14 mph on his 6.60 dial to defeat Mike who missed the tree badly with his .250 reaction. Mike ran under his 6.29 dial with a 6.283 at 107.22 mph in his effort to make up the r.t. deficit. Tom Perrin was the semifinalist.

Brian Mahler - Street Trophy Winner

Street Trophy
It was Brian Mahler in his Grand Am taking the win in Street Trophy stopping Mike Holifield in the final round. Brian held a .025 to .090 starting line advantage and used it to win with a 10.212 at 69.97 mph run on his 10.10. Mike had to settle for the runner-up spot breaking out when he ran under his 9.76 dial with a 9.734 at 68.28 mph effort. Steve Seelman Jr. was the semifinalist.

Bike/Sled Trophy
In Bike/Sled Trophy it was Lisa Phelps and Dan Kirkby having to be co-winners today as the rains came and we could not run the final round. Kevin Wuest was the lone semifinalist.

Danny Thorpe - Jr. Dragster Winner

Jr. Dragster
Danny Thorpe won again in the Jr. Dragster class when he defeated Kimberlee Snell. Danny had a .104 r.t. and ran an 8.088 at 74.51 mph run on his 7.95 dial. Kimberlee cut a .209 light and ran well off her 9.39 dial with a 9.584 at 67.75 mph. Alexis Collins and Damien Forjone lost in the semis.
