Howard Roberts Scores Affordable Carpet Street Shootout

September 4, 2016 -  Today's event featured our annual NHRA King of the Track race and the rescheduled Affordable Carpet Street Money Shootout. The weather was spectacular and made for a great day of racing.

Steve English won the special NHRA King of the Track race which pitted our number 1 point earners in each class, racing for a shot at the "Wally" trophy and the bragging rights that come with it. It was Street Money and Trophy point leader Steve English who stopped the Pro division Mike LaRose in the final round. Steve was dialed in at a 12.55 and drilled the tree with an impressive .004 reaction time and ran a 12.572 at 108.98 mph on his 12.55 dial to turn back Mike's .029-initiated 9.871 at 130.83 mph run on his 9.84 dial. Pro MX leader Dennis Boston was the semifinalist. Here's how the final rounds shook out and the boxscores below.

Tim Roberts - Super Pro Winner

Super Pro saw Tim Roberts take the win over Cody Reome in a race that was decided by a mere 9 thousandths of a second. Tim had a .049 reaction time and ran a 7.786 at 167.29 mph on his 7.76 dial-in, while Cody had to settle for the runner up spot with a .047-initiated 8.078 at 163.65 mph run on his 8.04 dial. Mike Scribani was the semifinalist.

AJ Meier - Pro Winner

A.J. Meier won the Pro class again driving his '69 Nova defeating Al Davis in his '85 Porsche. A.J. had a .050 light and he ran a 10.591 at 116.84 mph on his 10.53 dial. Al missed the tree with a .231 light and ran a 10.23 at 133.28 mph on his 9.95 dial-in. Allen Scott was the semifinalist.

Skip Tamburino - Pro MX Winner

Pro MX
Skip Tamburino won the Pro MX class today on his trusty '77 Kawasaki. Skip stopped Polaris rider Kevin Wuest with a .117-initiated 9.598 at 128.56 mph run on his 9.57 dial, while Kevin settled for the runner-up spot with his .108-initiated 10.627 at 116.57 mph run on his 10.59 dial. Keith Miller was the semifinalist.

Howard Roberts - Street Money Winner

The Affordable Carpet Street Shootout was won by Howard Roberts in his '84 Firebird stopping Bob Belvick who also was driving a Pontiac. Bob had the starting line advantage .034 to .084, but he tapped the brake one too many times and ran off his 13.45 dial-in with a 13.655 at 86.37 mph. Howard won with his 10.770 at 113.59 mph run on his 10.74 dial-in. Steve Doss and Todd Minerd were the semifinalists.

Tony Arcadi - Modified Winner

Tony Arcadi drove his '67 Camaro to the Modified win when he defeated Scott Smith who was driving his '64 Plymouth. Tony had a .100 light and ran an 11.887 at 110.56 mph on his 11.87 dial for the win. Scott had a .102 light and took the runner-up spot with a 10.314 at 129.02 mph run on his 10.29 dial. Rodney Pfendler was the semi-finalist.

Earl Snyder - Street Trophy Winner

In Street Trophy Earl Snyder in his '15 Dodge Charger won the Street Trophy class when he defeated Jack Hayes in his '69 Dodge. Earl had a nice .051 r.t. and ran a 12.614 at 99.81 mph on his 12.48 dial, while Jack who was dialed in at 13.34, settled for the runner-up spot with a 13.425 at 98.26 mph pass. Jack missed the tree with his .272 reaction. Bill Coon was the lone semifinalist.

Slaven Peric - Bike/Sled Trophy Winner

Bike/Sled Trophy
Bike/Sled Trophy action saw Slaven Peric take the win on his '13 Kawasaki stopping Derek Eastman who bulbed on his '00 Ski-doo. Slaven ran an 9.11 at 146.91 mph on his 9.00 dial-in while Derek saw the red light and shut off. Bob Salerno and Kevin Wuest were the semifinalists.

Daniel Thorpe - Jr. Dragster "B" Winner

Jr. Dragster
Daniel Thorpe picked up another Jr. Dragster win today stopping Jimmy O'Toole in the final round. Danny held a .071 to .159 starting line advantage and won with a 9.014 at 71.29 mph run on his 8.90 dial-in. Jimmy was dialed in at 8.92 and ran an 8.986 at 72.02 mph in his runner-up effort. Jazmyne Short lasted until the semis.
