Class Champions Honored at Annual Awards Banquet

2015 Champs

On Friday night Jan 29th a group of racers, workers and fans gathered at Bella Domani’s to honor this season’s top points finishers in the ESTA/Summit E.T. Points Series. The banquet was well attended and the staff put out a great meal for everyone. Thanks to Colleen DeSalvo for organizing this year’s affair and thanks to Allison Lang for putting together the slide show from this season’s racing action. I also want to thank the fine people at NAPA Auto Parts for coming on board in a big way for 2016 by offering to purchase new finish line display boards which I’m sure everyone that attends will greatly appreciate.

We had some very close battles that went right down to the last week of racing and even had two runoffs to settle some titles.  One of the classes that needed a runoff was Super Pro where Matt Spisak was able to claim the title over second place finisher Vince Musolino. Jordan Reader had a great season moving up to Super Pro this year finishing in a third place tie with Terry Scheirer and Tim Roberts finished fifth.

Pro also need a runoff to settle the championship and it was Justin Hardman claiming his second-straight title. Anthony Zangari finished second, Mike LaRose Sr. was third, Terry Lee was fourth and Myles Higby and Becca Searles finished tied for fifth.

Ryan Orizino claimed the Pro MX class title as well as winning the coveted NHRA King of the Track crown. Last year’s champ Bob Salerno was second, Brian Moulton third, Dennis Boston was fourth and Matt Luke was fifth

The Street Money title was won by Steve English with Kurt Hagen second, Mike Halsey third, Jim Smith was fourth and Jessica DeSiato and Jake Lipke tied for fifth.

Myles Higby won the Modified title by one point over last year’s champ ‘Becca Searles. Scott Smith was third, David Miller fourth and Jordan Reader was fifth.

Steve English is also the season champ in Street Trophy this year, Kurt Hagen was second, Mike Holifield was third and Jim Pipines and Kim Rossiter finished tied for fourth.

Ryan Orizino is also a two class winner as he won the Bike/Sled Trophy title, Sudsy Eastman was second, Kevin Wuest third, Bob Salerno fourth and John Kufhta and Brian Moulton finished tied for fifth.

A few years ago we combined our Jr. Dragster classes (formerly Jr. “A” 13-17 and Jr. “B” 7-12 year olds) into one class and this year 11 year old Natalie Musolino became the first driver from the former “B” class to win the season title.  Abby Hacker was second, Ron Klein third, Jazmyne Short was fourth and Dunham Hall finished fifth.

2015 was a fantastic year with some of the closest points class battles in recent memory. I’m not sure if we can exceed that, but I’m sure everyone will try. A big thank you to everyone that came out to support ESTA and we’ll see you soon.

- Pete DeSalvo, Jr.
