what would also have to be considered and I cant answer this but if the ET max is dropped from 17.?? to whatever how many cars fall into that bracket and how many cars will the class actually lose and in that case the payout drop in the class

That is a great point. My concern about the 17.99 is entirely based on safety and in no way meant to keep anyone from racing or change the spirit of the class. I don't have any issues with lowering the quick side in any of the classes. What I would hate to see is a 17.99 car traveling at 75mph(no helmet, no fire gear, etc) get together with an 8.50 car traveling at 150 mph(certified cage, fire suit, harnesses, neck collar, drive shaft loops, transmission sheilds, etc) at the top end. I will admit that I am an overly cautious person (and afraid of fire), but it just doesn't seem safe to me to have that big of an ET spread racing each other.

I guess I never realized that there was that big of a spread in previous years (9.00 to 17.99). Just an eye opener for me. I will stop beating a dead horse and just work on getting my car ready

The 9.5 second ET range of pro still seems large to me.
I like the 13.99 that was suggested. Falls into the 5.5 ET range that super has

The ET spread in Pro is too much. The cutoff needs to be faster than 17.99.Should stay with the same rules as the bracket finals IMHO.Bryan

I agree. a 17.99 car is trapping at roughly 75 mph while a 8.00 car is close to 170 mph. That is a pretty big spread. If we aren't going to follow bracket finals rules I would at least lower the slow side. I would also think if you wanted faster than 9.00 that 8.50 would be easier on tech as far as checking chassis certs.

Just my opinion. I am happy to have a place to race either way.

Quicker than 14.00 you will need a snell approved helmet. Not sure where you are located, but maybe you can get a racer to swing buy and give the car a once over from a tech inspection stand point. It might save you from having any tech issues when you get to the track

We have all been the New guy and made mistakes. Don't worry about it. The important part is that hopefully you will enjoy it and keep racing. My advice would be after you get your car tech inspected....spend some time in the staging lane area. Watch the process as other cars go through it. It will help you know where to stage, when to pull in the burnout box, when to start your burnout etc. Dont be afraid to ask questions to your fellow racers. Everyone is happy to help out someone new to the track.

Is this ET/Mph based? Or ANY car that has headers? Dragsters and door cars?

From what I have read this only applies if you use slip on or bolted on collectors on your header.Doesn't matter if it is a door car or dragster.
your everyday street car running a Hooker comp header already has the collector welded on so this would not apply.
That is what what I gather....but I could be way off. Hopefully Pete can jump in and clarify this
